I Am Karate: Creating awareness and building an online audience for a new electronica band

13043400_1123287857691532_978124439588426772_nI listen to music with great passion, so it was a delight to help Marta Pettersson and Erika Soldh Ahlström to promote their band, I Am Karate.

Their fashionable sound is as if Kate Bush and Fever Ray had a lesbian love child born inside a Ghost In The Machine-scene.

The Swedish electronica duo does everything themselves, from music and lyrics to production and art direction. Of course, they did most of the pitching themselves, as well.

Tinitell: A case study on how we launched a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter

It’s not that often that I can provide a bonafide case study.

Most times, I prefer to make sure that the client gets all the credit. I see myself as a “secret weapon” and it’s up to the company if they want me to take some credit for any of the jobs we do.

“Living the brand” with Peppster

I love the idea of “living the brand”.

When I’m working with a client, I try my best to use their products or services. I find it easier to do a good job if I drink the Kool-Aid.

If I’m helping a business-to-business brand selling IT infrastructure to public companies, then it’s somewhat difficult, of course. But when I can put myself in their customers’ situation, I do.

As I’m now starting to work with Swedish startup Peppster, “living the brand” will be a challenge, for sure.
